Mehr Mut - Guriro Developement Association
The Guriro Developement Association (GDA) is a Non-Profit-Organisation, based in Graz (Austria). "Mehr Mut", the german title of the society, means More Courage. Founded as a private initiative, the NGO is working since the year 2000 in Guriro, a small village near Musanze, Rwanda. Their goal is to better the situation of the population in this rural and mountainous area.
During the last 20 years the founders, Manuela and Protais, worked relentlessly on the villages infrastructure, e.g. building a well for better water distribution and putting up electricity pylons to have more stable power supply...
Nowadays the work of the association is focused on Education and Empowerment, especially regarding young children and women. Projects like the Mother Baby Care House, Kindergarden, Workshops and various Educational Programs where put up...
A highlight among the ventures is for sure the ABAGORE Fingerpuppet-Project. About 100 women from Guriro are knitting small fingerpuppets, which are then sold in Austria to fund the NGO.
